In the summer of 2021, there is a lot of uncertainty in how our work with society will include the much-valued connections between people that were enjoyed by Rotary participants in the past. Although the mantra of hands faces will certainly continue to be a component of our practice, it's evident that confidence is building and more face-to-face connections are happening. Rotary is changing too. Rotary networks help to build lasting relationships. Our methods have been refined to keep online meetings at the forefront of our businesses, while reintroducing services and social activities in the face-to-face method. Our newfound opportunities have combined with what we learned from our previous pandemics to bring a fresh new outlook for Rotary. Recently an Rotary Survey revealed that about 75% of people were making plans for business as usual. You can listen to the report here. Amanda Watkin is the General Secretary of Rotary Magazine. It was great to hear that, during an earlier Rotary research study that 75% of the participants were thinking about their usual events and community initiatives that were beneficial for communities all over Great Britain. I am equally proud that our Rotary Support Centre staff continues to offer valuable tools which help to promote these projects and keep the facilities that keep our members and public secure; compliance and insurance are important We know that volunteering with the help of Rotary creates lasting friendships built by the common experience of giving time for community benefits. The members' imagination and innovative thinking in dealing with some of life's toughest challenges is astonishing. I am thankful for the opportunities Rotary gave me in 2002 with the opportunity to become a member. As with many others, Rotary have provided me with a strong trustworthy community of fellow members who have formed genuine relationships grown over the past twenty years.
